Pages From the Heart are a three dimensional , handcrafted hand molded individually created ornamental gift, taking the form of an old book,that appears to have been left open at a much loved page made from real books that have been rescued from the recycling bins of the Niagara region of Canada.Some Pages from the Heart designs appear to be from a time gone by, others have more of a country air about them , the gift books are all hand painted and decorated with 3 D paper tole,decoupage or paper filigree, and embellishments ,a gift of poetry and images on the pages of an old book.
Pages from the heart came to life after a giant row with my husband on my birthday one year. He could not understand why I was not overly appreciative of the” pool cue” he had just given me as a gift.
I got upset about the pool cue and yelled at him
"I want something that makes me feel you've thought about me!, That I'm special to you!, that you love me?, something a little romantic. A pool cue doesn't say that!" I screamed
"There's no gift anywhere in the entire universe that says that.
Why are women so difficult to buy for?
And so the idea of pages from the heart was born, I decided I would create the perfect gift that I longed to receive ,a gift for women of any age, especially those who have been married for a few years and are beginning to feel just a little romantically neglected .
I began to exhibit pages from the heart gift book designs at local craft shows and events I will not lie to you "pages" did not sell as I had hoped. The ladies all liked them of course some even bought them on behalf of male relatives to give as gifts to their wives or girlfriends as the ladies of course all realized what a treasured keepsake it would become for any woman. So in the absence of many craft show attending guys(lets face it they don't attend in droves,or at least not voluntarily) I decided to broaden my range of gift books to include designs women could more readily give to each other . Sales got a lot better, But to some degree I always felt I had failed as pages were originally created to fill a void.
My husband had always(and still does) complains at birthdays and Christmas or any other gift giving occasion he can never find anything with ease that he feels confident would please me, he knows many guys, he claims that feel equally overwhelmed ,I had created pages from the heart to fill this void to be a cast in stone guaranteed to please gift, that any guy could give to his wife or long standing partner with every confidence in the world that it would be well received and cherished indefinitely, as a constant reminder of the gentleman's deeply felt though often seldom spoken feelings .Becoming a one of a kind much treasured keepsake for the lady and an easy gift solution for the guy
So when our long standing business was forced to close by our building being appropriated by the city for a bridge expansion ,rather than find a job on some cash register somewhere I decided to take my gift books onto the internet in the hope of to broadening my customer base and hopefully tap into via the internet that all elusive male gift buying market and so we meet.
